OWEN — The Spencer softball team took a big step toward a possible third-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship by sweeping a doubleheader at Owen-Withee on Tuesday.

The Rockets rolled to 11-0 and 14-1 victories and improve to 12-4 overall and 11-0 in the Cloverbelt East, pushing their overall winning streak to 12. Owen-Withee is now 2-6 overall and in the conference.

Spencer, winners of 38 Cloverbelt East games in a row, can clinch a share of the conference title with a win at home over Loyal on Thursday. Spencer hosts Greenwood on Friday and finishes its conference schedule May 18 at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.

Tiffany Meinders and Lexi Baehr combined on a one-hit, five-inning shutout in Game 1 for the Rockets, combining for nine strikeouts, and the duo did not walk a batter.

Sadie Mercier and Baehr each had three hits and two RBIs in the victory.

In Game 2, Meinders struck out six in four innings and added a home run, a single, and three RBIs at the plate.

Mercier and Baehr also both had two hits, and Katie Fleischman drove in four runs in the victory.
