Spencer baseball routs Granton

Rockets use 11-run fourth inning to get past Bulldogs

GRANTON — The Spencer baseball busted open a tight game with an 11-run fourth inning and went on to beat Granton 16-1 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Tuesday.

The Rockets scored once in the first inning and held on to that lead before ripping off 11 runs in the fourth and adding four more in the fifth to finish off the victory.

Spencer is now 6-6 overall and 6-5 in the Cloverbelt East. Granton drops to 1-11 and 0-9 in the conference.

Dom Wichlacz earned the win, throwing four shutout innings and striking out three for the Rockets. He also was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored at the plate.

Hunter Luepke had two doubles, a triple, scored three times, and knocked in three runs, and Lukas Ellefson had two hits and two RBIs as well for Spencer.

The Rockets host Loyal on Thursday.
