MARSHFIELD — As part of the Marshfield area prescription take-back program, volunteers and city staff gathered at the Marshfield Police Department April 27 to sort prescription and over-the-counter medications, creams, liquids, nonaerosol sprays, inhalers, ointments, patches, pet medications, vials, needles, and sharps.

The take-back program is operated by local agencies to prevent prescription drug misuse and protect the environment.

Marshfield Police Lt. Darren Larson said that approximately 600 pounds of medications are collected from the program every six months through local events and collections.
