Monday, May 1
Employee allegedly steals from business
The manager of a business on the 2400 block of E. Fifth St. reported that an employee, a 20-year-old Marshfield woman, had taken items from the business without permission on April 30. Police spoke to the woman and then arrested her.
The woman was on probation. Probation and Parole was contacted and placed a hold on the woman. She was then transported to Wood County Jail. A charge of retail theft will be requested through the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Police attempt to identify rum thief
The manager of a store on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. reported that an unknown man entered the store at 3:30 p.m., concealed two bottles of Captain Morgan rum, and left the store without paying for them. Video of the incident will be included, and attempts to identify the man will be made.
Wednesday, May 3
Cash stolen from purse
A Marshfield woman reported that she forgot her purse in the restroom of a business on the 600 block of S. Central Ave. some time between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. When the woman later returned to the restroom, she found her purse still there with all of its contents except for the $550 in cash that was in the wallet.
Police contacted store staff, and video was requested. There are no suspects at this time.
Thursday, May 4
Wisconsin Rapids man commits retail theft
Police responded at 4:37 p.m. to a report of a 22-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man in the process of committing a retail theft at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. Police arrived and observed the man leaving the store on foot. The man initially disregarded police commands and resisted arrest.
This was the second retail theft in less than one year that the man had committed. Probation and Parole elected to place a hold on the man.
He was transported to Marathon County Jail. Charges will be requested through the Marathon County DA’s office.
Woman arrested for disorderly conduct
Police responded at 7:14 p.m. to a report of a physical domestic disturbance on the 400 block of S. Walnut Ave. After an investigation was conducted, police arrested a 52-year-old woman for disorderly conduct. She was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then released after she met the requirements for the bond screening form.
A 72-hour no contact prohibition was enforced. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Forty-year-old arrested on probation hold
Police arrested a 40-year-old man for a probation violation on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. He was taken to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Friday, May 5
Hewitt man strikes utility pole, arrested for drug possession
Police responded at 10:35 p.m. to a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole near the intersection of 21st Street and Maple Avenue. Subsequent investigation resulted in a 19-year-old Hewitt man being arrested for operating while under the influence, second offense; possession with intent to deliver THC; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession with intent to deliver MDMA; and a probation hold.
The man was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail. Charges will be referred to the Wood County DA’s office.
Sunday, May 7
Tires, rims stolen from Fourth Street residence
A Marshfield woman reported that four tires and rims were stolen on the 300 block of E. Fourth St. some time on May 6. The items were on the terrace in front of her residence.
Two men jailed on multiple charges
Police responded at 2:42 p.m. to a report of a disturbance in the area of Peach Avenue and Fourth Street. Following investigation, police took a 22-year-old man and a 25-year-old into custody and then transported them to Wood County Jail. The men will have charges of carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct, and resisting sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
