Stratford splits two at Bloomer softball tournament

Tigers now 9-5 this season

BLOOMER — The Stratford softball team split a pair of games at the Bloomer Invitational on Saturday, beating Baldwin-Woodville 6-3 and losing to Bloomer 9-4.

In the win over Baldwin-Woodville, Stratford scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull out the win after the Blackhawks rallied to tie the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Kiana Weiler struck out eight, and all three runs she allowed were unearned as she picked up the win against Baldwin-Woodville.

Brittany Bredemann, Sammy Griesbach, Sammy Kaiser, and Sam Manecke each had two hits for the Tigers (9-5).

Against Bloomer, Stratford committed four errors leading to five unearned runs.

Weiler was 3-for-4, and Val Licciardi had two hits for Stratford.

The Tigers were scheduled to play at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Monday.
