A press release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office

NEILLSVILLE — The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m), which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness, and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense. Further, his criminal history places him in a classification level that reflects the potential to reoffend.

This sex offender has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. He is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear. Rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.

Sex offenders have always lived in our communities, but it was not until the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.

Mark M. Davis has previously served a prison sentence for third degree sexual assault. His victim was an elderly female.

He will be released from custody on May 16 and will reside at N1340 Miller Ave., Neillsville, WI 54456. This information is being provided to make sure the public is aware of Davis’ release to the community.

Davis will be supervised by a Wisconsin Department of Corrections agent specialized in intensive supervision. Special supervision conditions include no unsupervised contact with minors and no taverns, bars, or liquor stores. He is not to consume any alcohol or drugs, must comply with the standard sex offender rules, cooperate with electronic monitoring, face-to-face contact with law enforcement, and all requirements of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.

If Davis violates any of these rules or conditions of his supervised release, he will be taken into custody and placed in confinement. Witness violations should be reported to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-743-2420. For any questions, contact Detective Kerry Kirn at 715-743-5358.
