Spencer softball knocks off Greenwood for ninth win in a row

Meinders strikes out 11, Harwood has four RBIs for Rockets

SPENCER — The Spencer softball team extended its win streak to nine with a 12-3 rout of Greenwood in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Spencer High School.

The Rockets are now 9-4 overall and remain unbeaten at 7-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood drops to 9-6 and 5-2 in the conference.

Spencer led 5-3 after 4½ innings before scoring a run in the fifth and exploding for six runs in the sixth to put the game away.

Tiffany Meinders struck out 11 and walked one in a complete-game effort to earn the pitching win for the Rockets.

Cinnamin Harwood had three hits and four RBIs, and Sadie Mericer had three hits and a pair of RBIs at the plate for Spencer.

Kaylee Learman hit a home run and drove in all three runs for Greenwood.

Spencer hosts its annual tournament on Saturday.
