WAUSAU — For the second-straight conference meet, the Marshfield boys golf team finished third in the standings as the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament continued with its second leg Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club. D.C. Everest was the host school.

Battling windy and chilly conditions, no individual broke 80 on the par-72 course. Stevens Point had a 340 to finish first, five shots ahead of Wausau West. Marshfield was third with a 361.

Merrill’s Russell Dettmering was meet medalist with an 80, one shot ahead of the Stevens Point duo of Evan Thomas and Max Backer.

Zach Hanson and Brendan Schneider each had 88s to lead Marshfield and finish in a four-way tie for eighth. Derek Michalski tied for 16th with a 92, Grant Michaelis was 18th with a 93, and Joe Kirschnik finished with a 96.

Marshfield will compete in the third leg of the seven-meet conference tournament Friday at Merrill.
