MARSHFIELD —The four recipients of the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 2017 Crystal Apple awards were announced May 2 as representatives surprised them in their classrooms.

The following teachers were presented with flowers as Crystal Apple representatives visited their schools to announce the honor: Debbie Heidmann, Auburndale Elementary School; Jessica LeMoine, Marshfield High School; Scott Moseley, Greenwood Elementary School; and Amber Schultz, Grant Elementary School.

The program kicked off in February when local leaders visited participating school districts to invite students to nominate teachers. From the 1,221 nominations received for 325 different educators, a ballot was created for teachers to vote on their top selections. Teachers of Distinction were identified from each school in March.

At the end of April, the Teachers of Distinction presented their education philosophies to the Crystal Apple selection panel, which selected this year’s recipients.

All Crystal Apple winners and Teachers of Distinction will be honored at the Crystal Apple Awards banquet on Oct. 4.
