Marshfield boys tennis beats Holmen, wins Stevens Point Invitational

Tigers’ three doubles teams go unbeaten at Point

The Marshfield boys tennis team won a dual meet at Holmen on Friday and cruised to the team title at the Stevens Point Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers beat Holmen 5-2 as they swept the three doubles matches in straight sets.

Jared Cordova and Derek Reckner won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1; John Fay and Will Fay won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2; and Luke Kaiser and Calvin Lawler won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 for Marshfield. Evan Fait at No. 1 and Eric Myklejord at No. 4 won singles matches for the Tigers.

At Stevens Point, Marshfield beat Eau Claire Regis 5-2, Wisconsin Rapids 5-2, and Stevens Point 5-2 to win the multidual tournament. The Tigers are now 6-0 in dual meet action this season.

All three Marshfield doubles teams and Braedon Corteen at No. 4 singles went undefeated. Fait was 2-1 at No. 1 singles.

Marshfield will play a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet at Stevens Point on Monday.
