TOMAH — Four Marshfield pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Tigers topped Tomah 6-0 in a nonconference baseball game Friday.
The Tigers (2-0) scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning and added another in the fifth to provide all that they needed.
Hunter Korger, Logan Jakobi, and Austin Palacek each pitched two innings, and Mason Coffren threw a three-up, three-down seventh to finish off the shutout for Marshfield.
“We played a lot of guys this evening, and they all did a great job,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “Our pitching and defense was strong, and we put together a nice rally in the middle of the game to give us some room. It was nice to get more pitchers some game experience, and they all did a great job.”
Paul Maguire and Palacek each had two hits, and Connor Jasurda, Jakobi, Maguire, and Ryan Krueger had RBIs for Marshfield in the victory.
Marshfield hosts Menomonie in a nonconference game Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hackman Field.
