MARSHFIELD — Wisconsin Rapids scored twice in the final 10:09 to put away Marshfield and win 3-0 in Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer action Tuesday at Griese Park.

Kaitlyn Hess scored 13:46 into the match to put Wisconsin Rapids (5-1-1, 2-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) ahead.

The score remained 1-0 until Cassidy Kohls scored at the 79:51 mark, and Hess added another goal three minutes later to provide the final score.

Miranda Nieman saved all five shots she faced in goal to earn the shutout for Rapids.

Marshfield (1-5-1, 0-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference) got two saves in goal from Andrea Carolfi and six from Wendy Rodriguez.

“We had some opportunities, and yet again, we just cannot get the ball in the net,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “It is not from lack of effort as the girls are playing hard, but when we have those opportunities, we need to capitalize.”

Marshfield plays a WVC game at Merrill on Thursday and hosts Tomah on Friday in a nonconference game at Griese Park.
