STEVENS POINT — Marshfield scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning, and it proved to be enough as the Tigers downed Stevens Point 6-3 in its long-awaited baseball season opener Tuesday at Bukolt Park.
Connor Jasurda earned the win on the mound for the Tigers, striking out two in four innings. Hunter Korger tossed an inning, and Jake Brueggen earned the save as the Marshfield pitchers allowed nine Stevens Point hits.
Jasurda, Ryan Krueger, and Brueggen each had two hits for the Tigers.
Marshfield will be back in action Thursday when it hosts Stevens Point at Jack Hackman Field. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
