AUBURNDALE — The Auburndale softball team was held to five hits, and it could not take advantage of nine walks as it dropped a 10-1 decision to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in its Marawood Conference South Division opener Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
Assumption improves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, and Auburndale falls to 1-2 and 0-1 in the Marawood South.
Assumption scored four runs in the second inning, three more in the fifth, and two in the sixth to take a 9-0 lead. The Apaches finally got on the board in the sixth when Natalie Aue scored, but that would be all they could muster.
Auburndale plays at Pittsville on Friday.
