Weiler tosses five-inning perfect game as Stratford softball wipes out Newman Catholic

Griesmer drives in five runs for Tigers (4-1)

STRATFORD — Kiana Weiler tossed a five-inning perfect game, striking out seven, to lead the Stratford softball team to a 16-0 win over Wausau Newman Catholic in the Tigers’ Marawood Conference South Division opener Monday at Hilgemann Field.
Shalynn Griesmer had three hits and five RBIs, and Brittany Bredemann had two hits and scored three times for Stratford, which is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Marawood South.
Newman pitcher Elise Brown walked nine batters and the Cardinals committed seven errors behind her.
Stratford’s next game is Friday at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
