MARSHFIELD — The 12th Annual Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA Teen Character Awards Banquet was held on March 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Students from Abbotsford, Granton, Loyal, Marshfield, Pittsville, Spencer, and Stratford were honored at the event. Guest speaker Len Luedtke Jr., Marshfield High School mathematics teacher, spoke on “Our Ability to Help.”

“The Teen Character Banquet gives us the opportunity to recognize outstanding youth from Marshfield and the surrounding areas that exhibit the YMCA’s four core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. These teens give back to the community, their families, and others. They are truly amazing,” said Sara Henrichs, YMCA senior program director.

This year 123 students were nominated for the awards. They were then asked to write a one-page essay. The essays were judged anonymously, and the authors of the top 10 essays were given Teen of Distinction Awards.

The 2017 award winners are:

—Jenna Waldhart: Loyal Junior/Senior High School.

—Noah Zastrow: Spencer High School.

—Lillie Boero: Marshfield Middle School.

—Trent Ress: Spencer High School.

—Michelle Kundinger: Pittsville High School.

—Matthew Trulen: Marshfield Middle School.

—Max Weber: Spencer High School.

—Megan Gamble: Spencer High School.

—Sarah LaBorde: Stratford High School.

—Aleisha Mueller: Spencer High School.
