EDGAR — Cole Hoffman scored 14 points, and Vaughn Breit added 12 points and 11 rebounds to lift the seventh-seeded Stratford boys basketball team to a 49-42 upset of No. 2 Edgar in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Friday night at Edgar High School.

The Tigers trailed 17-16 at halftime before pulling away with a solid second half.

Hoffman hit 4 of 6 shots from the field and 5 of 6 at the free throw line for Stratford.

Stratford (16-8) moves on to a regional final at Marawood South rival Auburndale (17-7) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Auburndale defeated the Tigers twice this season: 57-52 at home on Feb. 18 and 59-48 at Stratford way back on Dec. 8.

Stratford shot 52 percent overall (18 of 34) and was 10 of 12 at the free throw line in the victory.

Edgar finishes the season with an 18-5 record.
