NEILLSVILLE — When Clark County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy Matthew Prein was busy raising funds for the Clark County-City K-9 Fund, he had no idea his grandmother Virginia Rounsaville, who passed away in November 2016, would in an indirect way contribute to the cause.

Prein’s father, Ricci, said he could not remember a time growing up that the family did not have a dog. Rounsaville loved dogs, referring to them as her sons and daughters. That carried on as she always referred to Matthew’s K-9 Re as her great-grand dog.

When Rounsaville passed away, the Prein family members decided to donate the gifts of money received at the services from friends and family to the K-9 fund. On Feb. 13 the family presented Clark County Sheriff Greg Herrick and Chief Deputy James Hirsch with a check in the amount of $545. The family all thought it was a great idea and something “Grandma Ginia” would have wanted to do.
