Students participate in Youth Apprenticeship Day

By Kris Leonhardt

Editor

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield’s Staab Construction invited area students into the business for Youth Apprenticeship Day Feb. 15 so they could learn about careers in the construction industry.

Representatives from area businesses were on hand to provide information on their trades and the benefits of working in the careers associated with them.

The event, organized by Staab Operations Manager Dan Neve and supported by the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI), also gave students an opportunity to learn about local Youth Apprenticeship programs available to them.

Youth Apprenticeships allow employers to establish a long-term relationship with a potential employee through a one-year or two-year program that combines academic instruction, technical skills, and job experience.

Local Youth Apprenticeship programs are offered in automotive collision and technician, biotechnology, drafting and design, financial services, graphic arts and printing, health services, information technology, lodging management, logistics, manufacturing, production agriculture, and welding.

For more information on Youth Apprenticeship programs, contact the MACCI Workforce Development Department at 715-384-3454.
