By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

WITTENBERG — No. 1-seed Wittenberg-Birnamwood proved too much for Auburndale to handle as the Apaches dropped a 61-23 decision in a WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional semifinal Thursday night at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.

The Chargers (22-1) will host the winner of Saturday’s game between Stratford and Bonduel in a regional final at 7 p.m. Monday. The Stratford-Bonduel game was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed to Saturday, moving the regional final to Monday.

Auburndale finishes its season with a 12-12 record.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood led 28-3 after a dominating first half, overwhelming the Apaches from the start.

Kirsten Clark scored 12 points to lead the Chargers.

Auburndale statistics were not provided.
