Auburndale boys basketball pushes past Prentice in third-place game of Marawood crossovers

Apaches extend win streak to six

AUBURNDALE — Auburndale used a high-scoring second half to get past Prentice 72-59 in the third-place game of the Marawood Conference boys basketball crossovers on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.

Colton Wright made 6 of 9 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, to score a team-high 18 points for the Apaches (15-7). He also had eight rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Caleb Weinfurter added 15 points, and Cale Jacoby had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Auburndale.

The Apaches led by just two, 29-27, at halftime before blowing the game open with a 43-32 advantage over the second 18 minutes.

Auburndale will take a six-game winning streak into a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal at home against Crandon on Tuesday.
