Richard G. “Dick” Hemminger

Richard G. “Dick” Hemminger, 87, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am until service time. Chaplain Rich Engle will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by the Pittsville American Legion Post 153. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Richard was born on April 20, 1929 in Druze, Oregon to Philmore and Pearl (Canfield) Hemminger. He married Elizabeth in February 1955 and she died in 1980. He married Shirley in September 1989 and she died in 2015. During his life, he lived in Idaho, Montana, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.

Richard is survived by his children, Patty Clark, Marion (Bill) Hull, David (Janet) Hemminger and Art Hemminger. He is also survived by 5 stepchildren, Randy (Sylvia) Mapes, Tammy Mapes Andt, Marie Roggenbauer, Aleasha Guist and Leonard (Tanya) Mapes. He is Further survived by numerous grandkids, great grandkids and 4 great great grandkids with 2 more on the way.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, 7 brothers, 1 sister and a great grandson, Jackson.
