Auburndale girls basketball rips Athens in Marawood crossover

Eleven Apaches score in road win

ATHENS — Auburndale had 11 different players score in a balanced attack as it knocked off Athens 62-37 in the fifth-place game of the Marawood Conference girls basketball crossovers on Friday night at Athens High School.

Auburndale led by 11 at halftime and pushed its lead to 25 by the end to finish its regular-season schedule with an 11-11 record. Athens ends up 8-14.

Marissa Ponshock had 10 points, Rachael Bolder added nine, and Brooke Anderson scored eight for the Apaches.

Auburndale will play at Crandon in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
