Auburndale boys basketball holds off Stratford to win fourth straight

AUBURNDALE — Auburndale used a big advantage at the free throw line to hold off Stratford 57-52 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Saturday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale made 17 of 22 free throws, and Stratford was just 4 of 10 at the line as the Apaches won their fourth game in a row.

Cooper Weinfurter, Cameron Ertl, and Colton Wright each had 10 points, and Luke Olsen, Cale Jacoby, and Caleb Weinfurter all scored nine to provide Auburndale will all of its points.

Jacob Danen scored 15 points, Brenden Fecker added 14, and Vaughn Breit had 12 points and seven rebounds for Stratford.

Auburndale, 13-7 overall, finishes its Marawood South schedule with an 8-4 record and will end up in third place in the conference. Stratford falls to 12-8 and 5-6 in the Marawood South. The Tigers wrap up their conference schedule Monday at first-place Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.

Both teams will finish the regular season with Marawood Conference crossovers at home next Thursday.
