Spencer boys basketball loses Cloverbelt East finale at Colby

Rockets wrap up conference season at 7-9

COLBY — Four days after losing to Spencer by 29 points, Colby earned the Cloverbelt Conference East Division season split with the Rockets, beating them 56-42 on Friday night at Colby High School.

The Rockets, who shot 54 percent and made 11 3-pointers in their win Monday night against the Hornets, were held to 28 percent shooting overall (14 of 50) and 3-for-19 from 3-point range.

Spencer finishes its Cloverbelt East schedule with a 7-9 record and is now 7-13 overall heading into a nonconference game Monday at Auburndale and its Cloverbelt Crossover game next Friday. Colby improves to 7-13 and 6-9 in the Cloverbelt East with a game against Granton remaining on its conference schedule.

Collin Nieman scored 11 points, and Nate Karau had 10 for the Rockets. Spencer’s top two scorers, Jack Bezlyk and Noah Zastrow, were held to a combined 2 of 21 shooting and seven total points, all from Bezlyk.
