CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Marshfield boys hockey team’s season came to an end Thursday night with a 4-0 loss to Chippewa Falls in a WIAA regional final at Chippewa Falls Ice Arena.

Jordan Steinmetz had a hat trick for the Cardinals, including two goals in the opening 12 minutes.

Chippewa Falls outshot Marshfield 54-13, with Cardinals’ goalkeeper Jaden Hoople saving each of the Tigers’ attempts.

Marshfield finishes the season with a 10-14-1 record.

Chippewa Falls (19-6) moves on to a sectional semifinal at home against the winner of Friday’s game between Eau Claire North and Ashland on Feb. 23.
