Big second half lifts Neillsville past Spencer boys basketball

Rockets outscored by 20 in second half

SPENCER — Neillsville outscored Spencer by 20 points in the second half and beat the Rockets 55-35 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

The difference came from 3-point and free throw shooting. Neillsville outshot Spencer 6-1 from 3-point range and 13-2 at the free throw line to pull out the win.

The game was tied 18-18 at halftime before Neillsville pulled away in the second half.

Neillsville (13-6, 9-5 Cloverbelt East) had three players score in double figures, led by Adam Schmidt’s 16 points.

Noah Zastrow scored 16 points, and Vladimir Rivera had 10 for Spencer (7-12, 7-8 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer wraps up its Cloverbelt East schedule Friday at Colby.
