MARSHFIELD — The 2017 UW-Marshfield/Wood County Campus Alumni Exhibit is now on display in Art Gallery 450 located in the lobby of the Helen Connor Laird Fine Arts Building. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. A closing reception and art talk will be held on March 23 from noon to 2 p.m.
The public is invited to stop in and take in the artistic diversity. There are stitched textile sculptures created by Jessica Drummond. Kathryn Petke’s paintings, prints, and three-dimensional fiber pieces often portray whimsical fairy tale creatures found in stories from childhood. Dixie Langreck’s photography can capture both the magnificence of a waterfall as well as the essence of a young girl. Contemporary painter and printmaker Shawn Ganther often paints patriotic-themed pieces. Carmen Schweiger’s artwork ranges from conceptual works created with found objects to vibrant figurative and abstract oil paintings.
Drummond, Petke, and Ganther are professional studio artists; Schweiger is an art instructor at Spencer School; and Langreck is the owner of Alma Art Adventures, an art gallery and studio in Alma.
