Dons drop to 8-7 in Cloverbelt East

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

LOYAL — First-place Loyal proved too much for the Columbus Catholic girls basketball team as it ran out to a 19-point halftime lead and won 71-44 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday night at Loyal High School.

Loyal (17-3, 14-1 Cloverbelt East) led 36-17 at halftime and built its lead from there, holding Columbus (12-8, 8-7 Cloverbelt East) to 34.5 percent shooting (19 of 55).

Marissa Immerfall was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and scored a team-high 15 points for the Dons. The rest of the team was just 12 of 48. Kendra Baierl added 11 rebounds in the loss.

Morgan Reinwand led Loyal with 24 points.

Columbus wraps up its Cloverbelt East schedule Monday at home against Neillsville.
