MARSHFIELD — While conducting surveillance for an open warrant on Dec. 7 on the 2200 block of South Maple Avenue, Marshfield police located and arrested Steve B. Thompson, 51, of Marshfield.

According to the criminal complaint, officers conducted a search of Thompson’s jacket and found a white, crystal-like, powdery residue, which tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Thompson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class I felony, and could receive up to $10,000 in fines and/or three years and six months in prison.

Thompson was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Thompson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing and arraignment on Feb. 3.

On Jan.22 Marshfield police were dispatched to the 800 block of North Central Avenue for a welfare check. There they located Aaron G. Hofkes, who had an outstanding warrant in Clark County.

According to the criminal complaint, Hofkes was taken into custody. While searching the defendant’s coat, officers located a white, crystal-like substance, which tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

During a search of Hofkes’ duffel bag, police located a gray, rock-like substance, which tested positive for heroin.

Hofkes was charged with possession of narcotic drugs and possession of methamphetamine, both Class I felonies. Hofkes could receive $10,000 in fines and/or three years and six months in prison for each of those charges.

Hofkes was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Hofkes is scheduled for a preliminary hearing and arraignment on Feb. 7.
