MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield gymnastics team set a new team record for points but still came up short against first-place Ashland, losing a Great Northern Conference Large Division dual meet 132.6-130.5 on Thursday night at Marshfield High School.

Emma Haugen won the vault with a score of 8.6 and the all-around title with 33.875 points for Marshfield. She was also second in the balance beam (8.25) and floor exercise (9.125).

Macey Smith was second in the vault (8.5), and Melanie Hafenbredl took third in the uneven bars (7.975) for Marshfield’s other top-three individual finishes.

“The girls have been striving to hit the 130 mark all season, and we were ecstatic to hit that mark tonight,” Marshfield coach Allie Dryer said. “The girls have so much potential. We achieved the score tonight even with some errors on the beam, so we know we are capable of more.”

Marshfield hosts Antigo on Tuesday.
