MARATHON — Auburndale was held to 13 points in the first half and could not overcome the slow start as it dropped a 45-36 decision to Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Thursday night at Marathon High School.

Marathon is now 10-4 overall and 5-2 in the Marawood South. Auburndale falls to 9-7 and 5-4 in the conference.

Marathon led 18-13 at halftime and held off the Apaches the rest of the way.

Auburndale was just 13 of 44 from the field, missing 22 of 28 3-point attempts in the loss.

Caleb Weinfurter had 13 points and was the only Auburndale player to reach double digits in scoring.

Auburndale returns to action Tuesday at home against Northland Lutheran.
