MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth and Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach will host a Marshfield Area Parent Network presentation Jan. 16 titled “The Effects of Substance Abuse and Family Impact.” The event will be from 5-7 p.m. at Marshfield Clinic Froehlke Auditorium, Laird Center for Medical Research.

Your Choice to Live Inc. will share a family’s story about a loved one’s struggle with addiction and how the family found strength to get through it.

“Wake Up Call” will tour a typical adolescent’s bedroom as common items that can be associated with drug use are identified. A state adolescent treatment expert will cover why substance abuse has such a serious impact on the developing adolescent brain and what behavioral changes may take place.

“Wake Up Call” is age appropriate for those 21 and older. Those under 21 will be asked to participate in supervised activities for this portion of the presentation.

To register, call Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach at 715-221-8412 or email [email protected] by Wednesday, Jan. 11. Provide the first and last name of participant(s), and if requesting child care, provide the age of children.

This event is brought in part by Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
