MARSHFIELD — Marshfield scored three times in the second period and held on for a 4-1 win over Medford in a nonconference boys hockey game Friday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

Isaac Wellens scored with 1:10 left in the first period for Marshfield.

Nate Boson and Justin Stanek scored a minute apart to make it 3-0 before Medford answered.

However, a goal by Wellens on a power play with 2:13 to go in the period gave Marshfield a 4-1 lead that stood for the rest of the game.

Haydon Roy-Peterson had 23 saves in goal for the Tigers, who are now 3-7-1 this season. Medford drops to 4-5.

Marshfield hosts Wausau West in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
