Auburndale girls basketball falls short at Nekoosa
Apaches shoot 25 percent in road loss

NEKOOSA — Nekoosa made 11 of 14 free throws in the second half to hold off Auburndale 39-35 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night at Nekoosa High School.
Nekoosa (6-6) won each half by two points as the Apaches were just 12 of 48 shooting from the field and made 10 of 18 free throws.
Marissa Ponshock scored 10 points and had four rebounds for Auburndale. Rachael Bolder had a team-high eight rebounds for the Apaches (4-5).
Shannon Sorbo had 11 points to top the Papermakers.
Auburndale returns to Marawood Conference South Division play Friday at Wausau Newman Catholic.
