Loyal holds on to beat Spencer boys basketball

Greyhounds remain unbeaten in Cloverbelt East

SPENCER — Loyal pushed out to a double-digit lead by halftime and beat Spencer 58-48 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Thursday night at Spencer High School.
Loyal (5-1, 4-0 Cloverbelt East) led 29-14 at halftime and ended up making 15 of 20 free throws to hold on for the victory.
Spencer (2-5, 2-3 Cloverbelt East) stayed in the game by making 7 of 22 shots from 3-point range, including three by Noah Zastrow and a pair from Collin Nieman.
Jack Bezlyk topped the Rockets with 20 points and seven rebounds, and Zastrow finished with 13 points.
Riley Geiger led Loyal with 22 points, making 10 of 13 free throws.
Spencer’s next game is Jan. 5 at Neillsville.
