Parents Pour It Forward

MARSHFIELD — Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness change the tone of one’s entire day. Youth Initiatives and Parents on Campus recently partnered up to create Pour It Forward, a program to promote a kind culture on the campuses of Marshfield’s high schools.
Pour It Forward — or Tiger Warm Up as it is known on the Marshfield High School (MHS) campus — takes place one Friday every month from October through March or April. Parent volunteers serve free cappuccino and hot chocolate to students with kind messages written on the cups.
Columbus Catholic High School’s jazz band performs at these events. Students fundraise for other student organizations by selling baked goods to accompany the drinks.
Overall, the program has been extremely successful. About 200 cups are handed out at Columbus, and 1,000 are distributed at MHS.
MHS student Nina Meadows said, “It’s a great way to start your day, especially in the (winter) months when it’s really cold outside. I always look forward to (Pour It Forward) days. It really … brightens my day.”
