SPENCER — The Spencer girls basketball team improved to 2-1 this season with a 65-52 nonconference victory over Athens on Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Lexi Baehr had her second 30-point game of the year, pouring in a game-high 34 on 10 of 17 shooting from the field and 11 of 12 at the free throw line for Spencer.

Liz Endreas added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Sabrina Vircks had 10 rebounds in the win for the Rockets.

The big difference in the game came at the free throw line. Spencer made 20 of 29 shots at the line as Athens (1-1) was a paltry 8 of 26.

Spencer plays a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Owen-Withee on Thursday.
