MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Police Department is looking into a number of identity theft and debit card fraud cases.

Many of the cases involve accounts at Simplicity Credit Union in Marshfield as seven different people have come forward to say there has been unauthorized activity involving their Simplicity accounts since last weekend. Several other similar reports have come in that do not identify the financial institution.

Unauthorized activity has been reported taking place in the Madison; Milwaukee; Wausau; and Woodbury, Minnesota, areas.

Meanwhile, Forward Financial Bank staff reported that a card skimming device was placed on their drive-thru ATM at 1400 N. Central Ave. in Marshfield earlier this month.
