Columbus Catholic boys basketball crushes Nekoosa in opener

Dons play Assumption in Cranberry Classic championship Saturday

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Tyler Fuerlinger and Hunter Schultz combined for 54 points to help the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team to an 81-50 victory over Nekoosa in its season opener, which was a semifinal at the Cranberry Classic at Assumption High School.

Fuerlinger had 29 points, and Schultz scored 25 for the Dons. Nick Malovrh notched 11 points.

Columbus jumped out to a 38-19 lead by halftime and poured it on with a 43-point second half.

The Dons will play Assumption in the championship game at 7:45 p.m. Saturday night.
