Chippewa Falls shuts out Marshfield boys hockey

Tigers drop season opener at home

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield boys hockey team opened its 2016-2017 season with a 3-0 nonconference loss to Chippewa Falls on Tuesday night at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

All three goals for the Cardinals came in the final 11½ minutes of the game.

Marshfield goalkeeper Haydon Roy-Peterson stopped 19 shots through the first two periods and finished with 26 saves in the game.

Chase Hoople scored at the 5:26 and 11:52 mark of the third period, and Lucas Steinmetz finished the scoring with another goal with 3:23 to go.

Marshfield will compete at the Tomah Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
