NEILLSVILLE — Hundreds turned out Monday morning, Nov. 7, to participate in the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Veterans Day Observance held at The Highground in Neillsville.

“They had a program with 200-plus people here,” said Kirk Rodman, volunteer general manager at The Highground. “They were veterans that work within the (Wisconsin) prison system.

“They have the largest amount of veterans in any of the state government’s different departments.

“A large number of them brought donations of paintings and woodworking that they do in the prison so we could use them to raise money at The Highground, and they brought clothing for homeless veterans and veterans that are getting back on their feet.”

The Highground will observe Veterans Day Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. with a Veterans Day Celebration and Reading of the Names.
