Letter to the editor: Reader encourages civic engagement

I was born in Marshfield and have lived here all my life. I was involved in local government and state government for years.
I have learned government cannot manage money at all and cannot run anything in a business manner. They prove it every day.
A good example is the School District of Marshfield. You can give them every dollar you have, and it will not be enough. They have to understand the word “no” like we have to so we can make ends meet.
I cannot believe the city residents accept the fact that their council voted to give a bank $2 million. Government in the real estate business takes away tax money and increases our tax load to pay the difference. A good example is the Marshfield office building they sold recently.
They cannot afford to fix roads, but they have money for parks we do not need and real estate and equipment they do not use.
Whose fault is all this? It is the voters’ and taxpayers’ who do not get involved.
We need new people in these elected positions. They are people who are wrecking our country. People need to run for office and attend these government meetings and ask what is going on.
