Evergreens end Tigers’ season for second-straight year

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield volleyball team put together another great season, but the Tigers just could not find a way to get past D.C. Everest all year.

Everest beat Marshfield 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal Thursday at Stevens Point Area Senior High, ending the Tigers’ season for the second year in a row.

The Evergreens defeated Marshfield in last year’s sectional final, and also took care of the Tigers twice during the regular season en route to the Wisconsin Valley Conference title.

Alexa Aumann had eight kills, Anna Ripp had 19 assists and 11 digs, and Maureen Cassidy had 14 digs for the Tigers.

Everest, which advanced to last year’s state tournament, will play a sectional final at Chippewa Falls against either Eau Claire North or River Falls on Saturday night.
