MARSHFIELD — Local businesses and volunteers were recognized at Main Street Marshfield’s annual awards event, held Oct. 12 at the Marshfield Area United Way.

The Marshfield Area United Way received Main Street’s Partnership of the Year, and Baltus Oil Company was honored with Outstanding Business Renovation.

“It’s well deserved for everything that (Baltus) has done to their building. It’s very attractive. It turns your head. It’s very beautiful what they did,” said Main Street Marshfield’s new board president Erin Howard. “This year they renovated their car wash building on the 500 block. … It enhanced the overall quality of the building.”

Danielle Krohn was awarded the Main Street Volunteer of the Year, and Fairway Independent Mortgage’s Janet Heiting was honored as Downtown Employee of the Year.

“(Janet) will do anything at the drop of a hat for someone,” said outgoing board president C.W. Mitten. “She is the first one in greeting clients. It means a lot to me to be able to present the Employee of the Year to Janet.”

Outgoing board members Tom Henseler and Cindy Cole were awarded with the Board Member(s) of the Year, and Simplicity Credit Union was recognized with the Spirit of Giving.

The 2016 Main Street Holiday Parade Marshals were also unveiled at the awards event, with the honor going to outgoing board member Lois TeStrake and her husband, Gary. The parade will be held Nov. 17.
