Man runs from officers, arrested for bail jumping, resisting arrest
While attempting to perform a welfare check on a person on the 200 block of E. Arnold Ave., a different man ran from officers. After a short foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody for felony bail jumping and resisting an officer. He was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to jail.
Marshfield man arrested following disturbance
Police responded at 11:58 p.m. to a report of a physical disturbance on the 800 block of E. Third St. As a result of investigation, police arrested a 39-year-old Marshfield man for disorderly conduct – domestic abuse.
He was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then released after he posted the $150 bond. A 72-hour no contact period was enforced. A request for charges will be sent to the district attorney’s office.
Thursday, Oct. 13
Pills reported missing from hotel
A Pelican Lake man reported that two pills were missing from a medication dispenser, possibly taken some time between 6 a.m. on Oct. 12 and 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. The man was staying at a hotel on the 2100 block of W. Veterans Parkway, and when he was gone each day, he would leave the dispenser in a small black bag in his room.
On the morning of Oct. 13, he noticed that two of the same type of capsules were missing from two separate sections of the dispenser. No other pills were missing.
The man stated that his door, which automatically locks, was closed and that he was the only person staying in the room. He also said that he did not believe he had simply forgotten to load the pills into the dispenser.
The room had been cleaned by hotel staff, who stated they had no knowledge of the medications. Police reviewed the hotel’s security footage and were unable to determine if or when anyone else may have entered the room.
Man taken into custody for domestic disorderly conduct
Police responded at 2:36 a.m. to a report that a 24-year-old man was creating a disturbance on the 100 block of W. Fourth St. Upon officer arrival, the man had calmed down.
During an argument with a Marshfield woman, the man had smashed his television, cellphone, and other electronics while yelling at the woman, which caused her to fear for her safety. Police took the man into custody for domestic disorderly conduct.
After booking procedures were completed, the man was able to post bond. Charges will be referred to the Wood County DA’s office.
Birch Avenue yard toilet papered
A Marshfield man reported that his yard on the 700 block of S. Birch Ave. had been toilet papered some time between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The man stated he did not want this done and had not given anyone permission to be on his property. He also said that this has been an ongoing issue.
Police conducted a neighborhood canvass, but no neighbors saw the incident occur. All are aware of the situation and will provide information if they see anything. No further action was taken.
Marshfield man taken into custody for probation hold
Police took a 37-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. for a probation hold. The man was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Friday, Oct. 14
Packages stolen from Locust Avenue apartment
A Marshfield man reported that two packages that were confirmed to have been delivered to his apartment on the 1400 block of S. Locust Ave. were stolen on Aug. 31. One package contained 12 gel pens worth $15.07, and the other contained 84 plastic chair leg glides valued at $58.70.
The man provided police copies of the invoices for the items as well as the shipping confirmations. He did not have any suspects.
Contrasting statements sent to DA’s office
A Wausau man reported at 6:45 p.m. that he was struck in the face by his ex-wife’s boyfriend during a child custody exchange in Marshfield. The suspect denied striking the man.
Written statements were obtained from both parties, and charges for battery are being directed to the Wood County DA’s office for consideration.
Saturday, Oct. 15
Junction City man punches Marshfield man
A Marshfield man reported that while he was at a party on the 1500 block of S. Maple Ave. at 4 a.m., he was punched in the face by a 31-year-old Junction City man. The Marshfield man stated he had obtained the Junction City man’s wife’s phone number earlier in the evening, which may have upset the Junction City man.
The Marshfield man’s husband witnessed the battery. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Forty-year-old taken into custody
At 2:31 p.m. police took a 40-year-old Marshfield man into custody at his residence on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. due to outstanding warrants. He was transported to Wood County Jail after he was unable to post bond.
Police, hospital take away intoxicated man’s keys
Police responded at 3:18 p.m. to a report of a 37-year-old Ladysmith man who may have been driving under the influence with a 2-year-old child in the vehicle. Police located the man at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where he was attempting to pick up his wife who was being discharged.
It was learned that the man had been drinking beer inside his vehicle while in the parking lot. The man could not be proven to have operated under the influence, but he was intoxicated when police made contact with him.
The hospital agreed to provide the family a room for the night as the wife was not able to drive because of her procedure. The man’s keys were left with hospital security for the night, and he was told he could pick up his keys when he was sober or if he got a sober driver. No further action was taken.
Sunday, Oct. 16
Woman arrested for warrant, man for bail jumping
Police took a 38-year-old Marshfield woman into custody on the 100 block of W. Cleveland St. for a valid Marshfield warrant. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then taken to Wood County Jail after she was unable to post bond.
While arresting the woman, police also took her boyfriend, a 32-year-old from Marshfield, into custody for misdemeanor bail jumping at 12:18 p.m. The man was intoxicated, and police knew that he was out on bond with a condition of absolute sobriety.
After confirming that the man was in violation of his bond, police took him into custody, booked him, and transported him to Wood County Jail. A bail jumping charge will be forwarded to the DA’s office.
Marshfield man threatens family members with handgun
Police took a 68-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 1400 block of S. Central Ave. after he pointed a handgun at family members and threatened to shoot them during a disturbance at 2:25 p.m. A 9 mm handgun was recovered at the scene.
The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then taken to Wood County Jail. Charges of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon were requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Woman, man with probation holds taken into custody
Police received a report at 4:51 p.m. that a 32-year-old Marshfield man and 29-year-old Marshfield woman that had valid probation holds for their arrest were in an apartment on the 700 block of E. Fourth St. Officers arrived, entered the apartment, took the man and woman into custody, and later transported them to Wood County Jail.
During the arrest, police located some controlled substances. Charges for the controlled substances will be requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Man taken into custody following dog attack
A Marshfield woman reported at 7:43 p.m. that a dog had attacked her dog on the 100 block of W. Harrison St. The owner of the attacking dog stated that he had been walking it when it broke free of its leash. When he tried to separate the dogs, his dog bit him on the hand.
An ambulance transported the man to Saint Joseph’s Hospital. After he was evaluated by doctors, police took the man into custody for a Taylor County warrant. He was unable to post bond and was transported to Taylor County Jail.
The woman said her dog did have a cut on its face. The attacking dog’s rabies vaccination was up to date.
Monday, Oct. 17
Marshfield man warned for harassment, trespassing
The manager of a business reported that for approximately the last month a 46-year-old Marshfield man had been coming into the business daily to speak with her. The man would rarely purchase any items but insisted on conversing with her. The conversations were not inappropriate but were not of a professional content.
The manager asked the man numerous times to have no further contact with her, but those requests had not had any success.
Police made contact with the man, and he stated he would no longer have contact with the manager. He was also warned for trespassing as per the business’ regional manager’s request.
Woman turns herself in for warrant
A 28-year-old Marshfield woman came into the Marshfield Police Department at 3:27 p.m. to turn herself in on an active Marshfield Police Department warrant. She was able to post the $356.50 bond and was released without incident.
Tuesday, Oct. 18
Sixty-four-year-old violates bond conditions
Police responded at 12:15 p.m. to a report that a 64-year-old Marshfield man was drinking, which was a violation of his bond conditions in several pending Wood County cases, on the 1800 block of S. Central Ave. Police arrested the man and transported him to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. He was then taken to Wood County Jail. Bail jumping charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
