MARATHON — The Spencer volleyball team’s season came to an end Thursday night with a 3-1 loss to Marathon in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal at Marathon High School.
Marathon won 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22 to advance to a regional final Saturday night at Stratford. Stratford beat Marathon earlier this season in Marawood Conference South Division action.
The season comes to a close for Spencer, which won its fifth-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division title this season.
Jenna Rogers had 41 digs, Sadie Mercier had 19 assists, and Jenna Schober had 13 kills and 18 digs for the Rockets.
“It was a tough loss because we started so slow,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “If we played the whole match like Games 3 and 4, the outcome could have been different. I’m so proud of what this group of seniors has done for our program.”
