Columbus Catholic soccer whips Tri-County, finishes off unbeaten conference season

Payant scores twice for Dons

PLAINFIELD — Marshfield Columbus Catholic finished off an undefeated season in the Mid-State Soccer Conference with a dominating 8-0 victory over Tri-County on Thursday.

The Dons outshot Tri-County 28-1 overall and 20-0 on goal en route to the win.

Columbus finishes its regular-season schedule with an 18-2 record overall and a perfect 12-0 mark in the Mid-State Soccer Conference.

Charles Payant scored twice in the first half, and Kellen Heinzen, Tyler Fuerlinger, Zoe Stratman, and Matt Olsen also had goals to put the Dons up 6-0 at halftime.

Bailey Keffer and Jose Martin added goals in the second half for Columbus.

The Dons will open the WIAA playoffs by hosting a Division 4 regional semifinal on Oct. 20 at Griese Park.
