Marshfield volleyball wins one of three at second WVC tournament

Tigers finish Valley season Tuesday

WESTON — The Marshfield volleyball team lost to the top two teams in the Wisconsin Valley Conference on Saturday at D.C. Everest High School at the season’s second WVC tournament.

Marshfield lost to first-place D.C. Everest 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22) and second-place Merrill 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 17-25, 25-23) before beating Wausau East 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 26-24). The Tigers are now 6-5 in the Valley with one match remaining Tuesday at Stevens Point.

Alexa Aumann led the Marshfield hitters with 46 kills. Stephanie Rhodes added 37 kills, 42 digs, eight block kills, and six service aces; Anna Ripp had 102 assists; and Maureen Cassidy had a team-high 44 digs and seven aces for the Tigers.

Marshfield will learn its WIAA postseason seeding Wednesday and finish its regular-season schedule with a nonconference home match against Antigo.
