McManus scores four goals as Marshfield boys soccer whips Merrill

Tigers wrap up regular season with two games next week

MERRILL — Marshfield scored four times in the first 26 minutes and rolled past Merrill 9-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer game Thursday at Merrill High School.

Hunter McManus scored four times and assisted on two others for the Tigers, who are now 9-6-3 overall and 5-4-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with two games remaining. Merrill falls to 2-9-2 and 0-8-1 in the conference.

Marshfield closes its regular-season schedule with a home game against D.C. Everest on Tuesday and visits Wausau East on Oct. 13.

Ben Simon scored 9:35 into the game before McManus added his first goal 3:21 later.

Klaus Friedli and McManus added goals before halftime to push the Tigers’ lead to 4-0.

Friedli, Ethan Leischow, and Collin Nikolai each had goals, to go along with a pair from McManus, in the second half for Marshfield. Luke McCann and Kade McManus also had two assists each for the Tigers.

The Tigers held a 20-4 advantage in shots on goal.
